What is the Associate Expert Care Program?

The Associate Expert Care Program ensures you receive the highest-quality healthcare from world-class medical centers at no cost or reduced cost* to you. The program focuses on the appropriateness of care and reducing your risk of misdiagnosis by working exclusively with the top surgeons and specialists in the country (aka Edison’s SmartCare Centers).

No matter what stage in your medical journey, it is so important that you receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan. When receiving care through this program, your medical deductibles*, copays, coinsurance, and travel expenses (including a travel companion) will be covered at 100% by your Humana medical plan.

How does the program work? What is the process?

Edison offers Humana health plan members a VIP healthcare experience. With Edison, you are not alone in your healthcare journey, your care team will walk beside you through these simple steps:

  1. You call our care team and provide some basic information

  2. Our clinical team evaluates your case (gathering records, etc.)

  3. In most cases, we schedule a virtual visit with our expert physicians for a 2nd opinion

  4. If an in-person visit or surgery is necessary at a SmartCare Center, we handle everything

  5. If no surgery is needed, our clinical team assists you with a local care plan

 

 

What does “No Cost or Reduced Cost to You” mean?

For many Humana health plans, healthcare through this program is covered at 100%. This means that the associate pays nothing for second opinions, surgeries, and any necessary travel through the program. For HDHP plans, the IRS requires that members meet a reduced minimum deductible before Humana can cover all remaining costs. If travel is ever necessary, that is always covered at 100% by Humana.
